When properly ripened, Carneros Chardonnay displays a crisp acidity from the long, moderate season. Fruit flavors tend to be citrus, green apple and tropical (many tasters say pineapple). The body of the wine tends to be medium and the overall character is elegant and not heavy and overdone. The buttery and oaky components are functions of winemaking, not regional, and will vary with the producer.
Carneros Pinot Noir is characterized by a silky, elegant style. The wines have aromas and flavors of red cherry and raspberry, hints of tea leaves and a delicious whisper of fresh mushrooms. This a medium-bodied wine that is texturally satisfying… meaning there is a high level of concentration of fruit and richness, with complexity distinct to the region. The natural acidity ensures food friendliness and ageabilty.
Carneros Merlot captures the true, varietally correct, taste profile of Merlot. Beautifully balanced and rich, showing aromas of cassis and roasted coffee beans are followed by toasty oak, black cherry and sweet vanilla and flavors of black cherry, green tea and spice with hints of earth and tobacco. It has a supple mouthfeel and finishes with polished tannins.
A wonderful expression of cool climate Carneros Syrah – the gamey side of Syrah is balanced by the elegance and finesse of the cool climate fruit. Aromas of bright blueberry and boysenberry, nutmeg, black licorice and smoked meats. The palate explores hints of toastiness and exhibits flavors of berry and currant spice, ending in a lingering finish of plum.
