With an intense garnet hue and inky purple undertones, our 2024 vintage reveals an expressive bouquet of ripe black cherry, concentrated boysenberry, and accented by hints of aromatic sage, bittersweet chocolate, and toasted vanilla. On the palate, generous layers of black plum and crushed raspberry unfold alongside nuances of graphite, warm spice, and finely integrated oak. Rich and full-bodied, this captivating expression offers polished, velvety tannins and a beautifully balanced structure, culminating in a long, resonant finish marked by depth, elegance, and remarkable persistence.

Story

The Founder Red Wine from Buena Vista Winery celebrates and honors Buena Vista's founder, Count Agoston Haraszthy, and the pioneering role he played in creating the California wine world. The Founder, true to the Count's legacy, is a bold wine with a gold medallion predominantly featuring the Haraszthy family crest adorning the bottle. The Count of Buena Vista, Agoston Haraszthy, was a vivacious pioneer whose love affair with grape-growing started in his homeland of Hungary. Surrounded by tales of intrigue and political exile, the Count emigrated from Europe in 1840 in pursuit of opportunity and freedom in the burgeoning American West. He ultimately settled in Sonoma, where he founded Buena Vista Winery in 1857.
