The Captain

Red Blend / 2023

Deep garnet in color with vivid ruby highlights, this blend reveals expressive aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry compote, bittersweet cocoa, and a touch of cracked black pepper. The palate is full-bodied and polished, combining Cabernet Sauvignon's refined tannic backbone with Syrah's lush dark fruit and Grenache's warm spice. Layers of toasted cedar, cured tobacco, and dried Mission fig unfold across the finish, creating a rich, harmonious wine with remarkable depth and lingering elegance.

Story

Buena Vista Winery, in partnership with surrounding landowners, is creating a first-of-its-kind Enhanced Resilience Site (ERS) in Sonoma County. This designation, developed by Napa Firewise and rolled out in Sonoma Valley by Sonoma Ecology Center, identifies properties where wildfire can be strategically slowed and managed through coordinated prevention infrastructure.

Wildfire is one of the most significant threats to California wine country, to our vines, our historic estate, and the people who steward them. By investing in prevention and resilience infrastructure, we are proactively safeguarding the terroir and heritage behind every bottle of Buena Vista.
