The History Buskers present their free historically-themed performance-art piece at Buena Vista Winery in Sonoma. It’s called the “Condensed History of Wine,” and is part history lecture, part sketch comedy. In just 45 minutes, ALL of wine history is revealed through the use of the Acme Time Machine, patent pending! Hosted in the Wine Museum, this free cultural offering requires no reservation. (In true “busker” fashion a top hat will be passed for gratuities at the end of the show.)
Fun-loving attendees will meet Kirashi: Discoverer of Wine in 10,024 BCE; and Pliny the Elder in 79 CE. And in a truly mind-bending exercise, Count Agoston Haraszthy will be brought to life once again by Sonoma history-actor George Webber, who portrayed the inestimable Count Haraszthy at Buena Vista Winery from 2011 to 2021!
The History Buskers are George Webber and CW Bayer, two Sonoma actors-historians-musicians who believe that the ironies of history are hilarious! In addition to guffaws, yucks, and hardy-har-hars there will be original live music performed by the History Buskers, and the original song: “It’s Nicaragua and Rum for Me” will be sung by Mr. Webber performing as the Count. Closing the show is the dirge: “Nicaragua Was a Really Bad Idea,” sung by CW Bayer in his role as Luigi.
Delicious Buena Vista wine by the glass and bottle will be available before, during, and after the show.
